Petty Officer First Class Michael Bernard was nominated by his wife Meghan, who had the following to say about him: “My husband has been in the Navy for 19 years, deployed multiple times with each one being more and more difficult on him and our family. Michael is going to retire in September of 2026. He has worked so hard to support myself and our 4 children (with one more on the way). His excitement to retire and spend more quality time with us is incredible.”
