Petty Officer Second Class Holly Waggoner was nominated by her husband Randy, who had the following to say about her: “Holly served in the Navy as a Boatswains Mate from 2007-2017. Her fondest memories are from her time on the USS Milius (DDG-69), where she was the only Master Helmsman. She absolutely loved controlling that ship, whether it was through the Strait of Hormuz, Fleet Week in San Francisco, or just pulling in and out of San Diego. She sacrificed it all to support my specialized military career and raise our children. Since 2019, she has served as a Chesapeake Police Officer. She’s so incredibly passionate about helping people it boggles my mind. She strives to bring kindness, compassion and hope even in the worst of times to everyone she interacts with; victim, bystander, even the criminals, doesn’t matter. She just bought her first house and I’ve never been more proud of her and hope this nomination can show her that others recognize and appreciate her selfless dedication as well.”
