FM99’s ROCK GIRL SEARCH 2025 CONTEST RULES

TO ENTER “FM99’s Rock Girl Search”:

FM99 WNOR (“FM99”), is a part of Hampton Roads Media Group, Saga Broadcasting, LLC, and its ultimate parent company, Saga Communications, Inc.

 

ALL EVENT DATES, TIMES AND LOCATIONS ARE SUBJECT TO CHANGE. LISTEN TO FM99 WNOR OR VISIT FM99.COM FOR UPDATES.

  1. Prospective entrants must enter online from June 2, 2025 at 12:00am through July 6, 2025 at 11:59pm on FM99.com. By entering at FM99.com, entrants will be asked to complete a registration form that asks for the following information:
  • First & last name
  • Date of birth
  • Current city of residence
  • Phone number
  • Social Media Accounts
  • Answer the question: Why do you rock?
  • A current photo of yourself that becomes property of FM99

 

As the submissions are received, entrants may be asked to complete a Rock Girl application and do an online video interview conducted by WNOR staff. Entrants who are invited to do so will be required to show valid driver’s license and provide a copy of it to WNOR (contestants must be 21 years of age by July 6, 2025).

 

After the interviews have been conducted, entrants may be asked to participate in a Group Photo Session. There will be 2 sessions, scheduled for 6/25/25 and 7/10/25, both from 4 to 6pm. Entrants will be contacted via email with the Photo Session location. Entrants will have their photos taken on a first come, first served basis and may leave once their photos have been completed. WNOR reserves the right to change the date/time of these group photo sessions and add sessions if necessary. WNOR will make a reasonable effort to contact entrants to inform them of any change in date/time of sessions. WNOR has no responsibility or liability for waiting time or delays. The decision to invite entrants to a Group Photo Session is at the sole discretion of WNOR.

 

  1. Any person who, as of June 2, 2025, has any of the following may be deemed INELIGIBLE to participate in the contest and subject to disqualification: any type of talent and/or management representation (e.g., a talent agent or manager); any type of professional performance contract (including but not limited to, a music recording contract; a talent contract, an acting contract); any type of exclusive contract to a modeling and/or promotional agency; any type of merchandising contract; professional radio personalities (persons who have been paid for their on-air performance in the past year) who work for a competing radio station or group in Hampton Roads. This information must be disclosed on the Rock Girl application so that WNOR can determine whether disqualification is necessary.

 

  1. Entrants who provide any false information on the application or otherwise in connection with the contest, including (without limitation) with respect to employment history, background, or other credentials, may be immediately disqualified or, if already hired, immediately terminated.  Participants agree to be bound by these Official Rules. Participants agree to submit to a criminal background check.

 

  1. Entries containing inappropriate photos will be disqualified. Any photograph submitted to WNOR will become the property of WNOR and may be used in any manner it feels appropriate in the future. By entering this contest, entrants are verifying that they are the owner of the submitted material and that no third party ownership rights exist to the photo submitted.

 

  1. JUDGING:

There will be 3 rounds of judging.

  1. Round One judging will be completed by WNOR staff. They will review all of the entrants and choose up to 20 contestants based upon resume, presentation, and speaking ability to move on in the contest. Those contestants will be announced on July 14, 2025 at 12pm on FM99.com. These contestants will be asked to make appearances at “Rock Girl Road Shows” between 7/14/25 and 8/10/25. WNOR reserves the right to lengthen or shorten the Road Show time period. Exact dates and times will be announced and contestants will be contacted via email with event date/time and event info. Information will also be announced on WNOR and FM99.com.  Determination if attendance at these events is required is solely up to WNOR who will inform all contestants of its decision(s). Listeners will be invited to these events to meet and interact with the contestants.

 

Listeners can vote at www.FM99.com and text a contestant’s Rock Girl text code  to 757-366-9999 for the contestant(s) they would like to see be the next FM99 Rock Girl. WNOR reserves the right to lengthen or shorten the voting time period.

 

  1. Online voting: listeners may vote on FM99.com from 7/14/25 at 12pm through 8/10/25 at 11:59pm. Each listener may vote once per contestant per day during this voting period.
  2. Text voting: Listeners may vote for each contestant via text. Voting will take place from 7/14/25 at 12pm through 8/10/25 at 11:59pm. Each contestant will have an equal opportunity to be voted on and will be designated with a certain text code that represents them once they have been selected. Each listener may text one vote per contestant per day during this voting period.

 

If a contestant receives irregular votes from the same user or users, including but not limited to: votes generated by a robotic, programmed, script, macro, other automated means or other source, WNOR reserves the right to disqualify the entrant in its sole discretion.

 

All contestants who have advanced to Round One may be required to attend photo/video shoot(s) with WNOR staff. One shoot has been scheduled on 7/24/25 from 4 to 6pm. One or more other shoots may be added. WNOR will take official “Rock Girl Contestant” photographs and/or video of each contestant.  WNOR reserves the right to cancel or reschedule the photo shoot. WNOR will make a reasonable effort to alert the contestants to any changes made. All photos become the property of WNOR. WNOR has no responsibility or liability for waiting time, delays, or if the photo shoot ends before a particular waiting entrant has had her photo taken.

 

  1. Round Two judging will be completed by WNOR staff with input from WNOR listeners via voting. They will review the contestants based upon resume, presentation, popularity, and speaking ability. 10 contestants will be asked to move on to become finalists. Those finalists will be announced on August 11, 2025 at 12pm.

The 10 finalists will make appearances at “Rock Girl Road Shows” between 8/11/25 and 8/21/25. WNOR reserves the right to lengthen or shorten the Road Show time period. Exact dates and times will be announced and contestants will be contacted via email with event date/time and event info. Information will also be announced on WNOR and FM99.com.  Determination if attendance at these events is required is solely up to WNOR who will inform all contestants of its decision(s). Listeners will be invited to these events to meet and interact with the contestants.

All 10 Finalists who have advanced Round Two may be required to attend a photo/video shoot(s) with WNOR staff. One shoot will be scheduled and One or more other shoots may be added. WNOR will take official “Rock Girl Contestant” photographs and/or video of each contestant.  WNOR reserves the right to cancel or reschedule the photo shoot. WNOR will make a reasonable effort to alert the contestants to any changes made. All photos become the property of WNOR. WNOR has no responsibility or liability for waiting time, delays, or if the photo shoot ends before a particular waiting entrant has had her photo taken.

 

All contestants who have advanced to Round Two will be required to attend an interview conducted by WNOR staff. This interview will be at the WNOR offices (870 Greenbrier Circle, Suite 399, Chesapeake VA 24320). The interviews will take place between 8/19/25 and 8/20/25 from 1pm to 4pm. Each contestant will be scheduled by WNOR to attend at a specific time.  The station will use reasonable efforts to attempt to contact contestants to schedule the interview.  It is the sole responsibility of the entrant to attend and failure to do this interview for any reason may result in automatic disqualification. WNOR has no responsibility or liability for waiting time or delays.

All 10 Finalists who have advanced Round Two will be required to participate in Round Three of Judging:  the Rock Girl Finale

 

  1. Round Three judging will be completed by FM99 management.

The FM99 Rock Girl Finale will take place on 8/22/25 at 8pm at Wild Wing Café, 1437 Sam’s Dr #20, Chesapeake, VA 23320. Contestants will be contacted via email with more specific event information. Information will also be announced on WNOR and FM99.com. We reserve the right to move the finale or change the date pending circumstances. WNOR will make a reasonable effort to alert the contestants to any changes made.

During the Finale, the 10 Rock Girl finalists may be asked to appear on stage, answer questions, wear different outfits, and participate in skits and/or games. The finale is the last opportunity to impress the judges.

 

A panel of WNOR staff will select one Finalist as the grand prize winner based on any lawful criteria that they deem desirable.  Each judge will vote according to personal taste and lawful criteria in their sole discretion. In the event there is a tie between 2 or more candidates, the panel of WNOR staffers will vote again, selecting from only the candidates involved in the tie. The winner will be chosen via the majority vote. The judges’ decisions shall be final and non-appealable.

The winner will be announced live at the Finale event after the end of the competition.

  1. ELIGIBILITY.

All WNOR/Hampton Roads Media Group contest rules apply unless otherwise specified within the official WNOR Rock Girl Rules.  Open to legal residents of the WNOR listening area (as defined in our General Contest Rules) 21 years and older (contestants must be 21 years of age by July 6, 2025) who maintain a valid driver’s license and are able to legally work in the United States (with official paperwork).  All employees of Hampton Roads Media Group, Saga Communications, Inc., as well as their affiliates, subsidiaries, and successor companies, advertising and promotion agencies, or employees of other radio stations, and the immediate families and household members of each, are not eligible. “Immediate family members” shall include spouses, siblings, parents, children, grandparents, and grandchildren, whether as “in-laws”, or by current or past marriage, remarriage, adoption, co-habitation or other familial extension, and any other persons residing at the same household location, whether or not related. Sponsor reserves the right to disqualify any entrant at any time in its sole discretion. Entrants who provide any false information with respect to employment history, background, or other credentials, may be immediately disqualified or, if already hired, immediately terminated.

 

  1. PRIZE:

Winner will be hired as FM99 Rock Girl for an estimated one-year engagement (starting approximately September 1, 2025, and going through approximately August 31, 2026) and will be entitled to an annual salary of up to $10,000, which will be payable in accordance with WNOR’s regular payroll policy.  Employment taxes and withholding shall be deducted from the winner’s paychecks consistent with WNOR’s standard payroll practices.

 

The winner will also receive the following prizes:

  • Concert tickets, movie passes, event tickets, and other misc. prizes from WNOR (ARV: $500) (awarded as they happen)
  • Photography portfolio from station photographer (ARV: $2000) (photo shoots ongoing throughout the year)
  • $1,000 Shear Passion gift certificate ($250 Awarded quarterly: October 2025, January 2026, April 2026 and July 2026) (ARV: $1,000)
  • A bag of coffee each month from Biggby Coffee (one bag awarded each month September 2025 through August 2026)(ARV: $170)
  • $500 Erase the Canvas certificate (Awarded November 2025)
  • A $250 Long Jewelers gift card (Awarded December 2025)
  • Five $50 Hardee’s gift cards ($250 total) (one awarded October 2025, one awarded December 2025, one awarded February 2026, one awarded April 2026, one awarded June 2026)
  • A $250 Whiskey River Tattoo certificate (prize non-transferrable) (Awarded February 2026)
  • A $50 Wild Wing Café gift card each month for 12 months (ARV: $600) (Awarded quarterly: October 2025, January 2026, April 2026 and July 2026)

 

 

Total Value: $4,770 in prizes (in addition to the up to $10,000 in salary).

WNOR’s sole responsibility will be to award the prizes and will no further responsibility if the winner cannot use, or chooses not to use, any of the prizes. The winner is responsible for paying taxes on the prizes and for all fees and incidentals that the winner may incur with any of the prizes.

 

  1. 5. EMPLOYMENT AGREEMENT:

The winner will agree to part-time employment with WNOR.  The winner agrees to enter into a contract with WNOR, which will outline the obligations owed to WNOR by virtue of being the 2025 FM99 Rock Girl. The winner will be subject to all employment policies of WNOR. The winner shall not exceed twenty-five (25) hours of work in any given week.  WNOR shall have the absolute right, without incurring any liability to the selected participant, to terminate the contract if the selected participant does not cooperate with WNOR in making the requested appearances or otherwise violates the spirit of the contract. If WNOR terminates the contract because the selected participant fails to cooperate in making promotional appearances, the selected participant will have no right to receive any money and/or prizes after the date the contract is terminated.  WNOR is an equal opportunity employer.

The FM99 Rock Girl must be available to participate in station activities as required and assigned by the station and be willing to travel around the Hampton Roads area and to other destinations. The FM99 Rock Girl must be available to participate in station activities during non-traditional hours, including nights and weekends. The FM99 Rock Girl will not be guaranteed a minimum number of appearances or hours during her tenure as the FM99 Rock Girl. The FM99 Rock Girl appearances will be booked as the promotional calendar allows.  The FM99 Rock Girl must be willing to appear at different venues and types of promotions including but not limited to concerts, bars, nightclubs, retail locations and more. The FM99 Rock Girl must be willing to dress in appropriate apparel for station events.

The FM99 Rock Girl may not accept employment from station sponsors or their competitors without approval from WNOR.  Failure to do so could result in Winner being stripped of title.  WNOR reserves the right to substitute prize(s) with similar prize(s) of equal or greater value for any reason. In the event the winner is not available or cannot otherwise fulfill the duties of the FM99 Rock Girl, an alternate may be selected.

WNOR shall have all rights to copy, edit, broadcast, publish and use, in whole or in part, any materials featuring entrants and the FM99 Rock Girl, in any manner without compensation.

 

  1. MISC:

By submitting a Rock Girl application, the entrant agrees to be bound by these Official Rules. Entrants agree to submit to a background check. Entrants may be required to furnish a driving record from DMV. Entrants represent and affirm that they owe no conflicting obligations under contract or otherwise that would interfere with their performance if chosen to be the FM99 Rock Girl. The winner must provide satisfactory references and proof of identification and work authorization as required by the Immigration Reform and Control Act of 1986. Entry constitutes permission to use an entrant’s name and likeness for purposes of conducting the contest and for publicity purposes without compensation. FM99 WNOR, Hampton Roads Media Group, Saga Communications, Inc., their subsidiaries and affiliates, their officers, directors, agents, stockholders, insurers, and employees, and their advertising and promotional agencies and sponsors assume no responsibility or liability whatsoever for damages, loss, or injury resulting from participating in any contest or acceptance or use of the prize (s). In consideration of participation in the contest, and for other good and valuable consideration, the receipt and sufficiency of which are hereby acknowledged, the entrant, on entrant’s behalf, and on behalf of entrant’s heirs, successors or assigns, administrators and personal representatives, does hereby COVENANT NOT TO SUE,  FULLY RELEASE AND FOREVER DISCHARGE (i) FM99 WNOR, (ii) Hampton Roads Media Group, (iii) Saga Communications, Inc., and each of their respective direct and indirect subsidiaries, affiliates, partners and related entities, (iv) each of their respective directors, officers, employees, agents, insurers, attorneys, shareholders and representatives, and (v) each predecessor, successor, and assign thereof, from and against any and all actions, charges, claims, losses, costs, damages, expenses (including attorneys’ fees and expenses) and liabilities of any kind or character, whether known or unknown, in connection with, arising out of or in any way related to entrant’s participation in the contest.  Any and all disputes, claims and causes of action arising out of or connected with this contest, or any prize awarded, shall be resolved individually, without resort to any form of class action, and exclusively by arbitration. Claims, judgments, and awards shall be limited to actual out-of- pocket costs incurred, including costs associated with entering this contest, but in no event attorney’s fees. Offer void where prohibited and subject to federal, state and local laws. Decisions of the contest judges are final and binding in all respects. Odds of winning depend on the number of qualified entrants and skills of same. All of Hampton Roads Media Group’s general contest rules also apply to this promotion. The sponsor reserves the right in its sole discretion to supplement or make changes to the rules of any contest at any time without notice. Sponsor reserves the right in its sole discretion to interpret the rules of any contest, and such interpretation shall be binding upon all participants. No purchase necessary.
