Just 5 days after the Attacks on 9/11 FM99 was scheduled to present Lunatic Luau 5 at the then Verizon Wireless Virginia Beach Amphitheater. Rather than go forward calling the show Lunatic Luau 5 the decision was made to rename it “Concert for America,” turning it into a benefit for victims. The lineup of bands included 3 Doors Down, Clutch, Nickelback, Primer 55, Soil, Sea Of Souls, Systematic, Seven Channels, Epoxy, Rock Iron Puppets, Lift 6 Eighteen, Gate 19 and Bailout.
It was that “Concert for America,” when Bailout played a version of Lee Greenwood’s “God Bless the U.S.A.” and then headed into a recording studio and pulled an all-nighter to record their rendition of that song. Since that horrible day 18 years ago, FM99 has played the Bailout version of that song every year on 9/11 after a moment of silence is observed for the victims. Today we once again paused and reflected and played this song.
Thanks once again Bailout: Mike, Brian, Josh, James and Kris
