Last weekend thousands of fans of pop culture descended on our nation’s capital for an Awesome time.
It was Awesome Con 2024, and it really did once again live up to its name. The headliners this year included a Josie & the Pussycat Dolls reunion that saw Tara Reid & Rachel Leight Cook take to the main stage. You could even get a photo with them and Rosario Dawson (YES… ROSARIO!) who was in town on Saturday. Rosario spent all day Saturday meeting fans for autographs, photos and then closed out the night on the main stage with Hayden Christensen talking about Star Wars.
Marvel had a strong presence this year as well with Charlie Cox and Alaqua Cox in town. Smallville stars Tom Welling (here my Tom Welling story at the bottom) and Michael Rosenbaum as well as a spotlight with the Breaking Bad cast headlined by Dean Norris.
It’s best to have a game plan when attending a con & one of the game plans should always include spending at least two to three hours on the vendor floor soaking in the cosplay, merchants, artists, meet & greets and more. The kids’ zone was the place to be for the younger Con goers and even featured Ghostbusters giving kids the chance to make their own slime & take photos with them.
Awesome Con 2024 once again delivered a spectacular weekend for all who attended. No matter what your fandom is they had something for you. It’s exciting to see where they take the Con next year, but one can only imagine it will remain Awesome.
