Virginia Beach native receives promotion aboard USS Boxer

MILLINGTON, Tenn. (May 16, 2024) – A native of Virginia Beach, Virginia, was recently promoted while serving in the U.S. Navy assigned to USS Boxer.

Lt. j.g. Tristan Walker, a 2018 graduate of Ocean High School and a graduate of Maine Maritime Academy, was recently promoted to lieutenant junior grade after completing a second year of service in the Navy.

“I’m looking forward to what comes next,” said Walker.

Walker joined the Navy two years ago.

With 90% of global commerce traveling by sea and access to the internet relying on the security of undersea fiber optic cables, Navy officials continue to emphasize that the prosperity of the United States is directly linked to recruiting and retaining talented people from across the rich fabric of America.
