Petty Officer Second Class Nicole Shiles was nominated by her wife Donna, who had the following to say about her: “I love my wife and she is my hero. She has served at 6 commands over her 14 year career thus far. She loves my kids as her own, as well as all of our animals, including a bearded dragon. While supporting her family, she also devotes her time to serving he country. At her last command she volunteered her time to over 30 military honors and events for those who went before her. She is 5th generation military, and her family, our kids, and I are proud of what she does. She recently returned from a 6 month deployment in Romania and I am so proud of what she has done and accomplished thus far. It was my first military deployment and wasn’t sure I would make it through, but she constantly kept me going, and help grow my confidence being separated from her. She has also grown up listening to FM99 and loves the respect and honor you have for our military. She also got me into listening to the station since moving to VA. I am a 9/11 survivor, and I love that no matter what, my wife is there for me. I nominate her for all the she does both for family and country.”
