Timothy Hodges, US Navy

Tim was nominated by Jackie Fetke:

Tim is a hero because he puts everyone before himself. He is a man that would literally give you the shirt off his back. He also is a super involved dad, he has been a football coach for his oldest son’s team, and has been an assistant boy scout leader for 7 years. He has five kids, aged, 16, 12, 8, 4, and 18 months. He missed our youngest son’s birth due to being deployed at the time, which was really hard on him, because he never missed a birth of any of his other children and our son has a very rare heart condition, which resulted in our baby boy to be in the nicu. Thankfully our toddler is super healthy now.

Tim is always willing to help others, he doesn’t care how much he’d have to work, he will always help someone else, whether it’s helping moving, doing yard work, or set up a function. If he sees someone struggling he’ll do whatever he can to help, he may not have much money, but if he has a dollar to spare and you need it, he’ll give it to you.

At work Tim will be the guy to take someone else’s duty if that person has a sick child, a special birthday for an immediate family member, or so that a sailor can spend a much needed romantic dinner with their significant other on their anniversary.

At home, he loves spending time with the kids, he’ll play dress up with his 8 year old daughter, or football with his sons. He will walk over a mile to the park, despite having worked all day, just so that the kids, myself, and he, can have a nice family walk and have fun at the park.

Tim is an amazing man, he really is, he does so much, and honestly never asks for anything in return. I call him my real hero, and tell him how proud I am of him, and all he does. Being nominated will make him shy, and he’ll say he doesn’t deserve it, but I really feel he does.
