The guitar Kurt Cobain smashed in Nirvana’s classic “Smells Like Teen Spirit” video is expected to fetch up to $40,000 at auction when it goes under the hammer in London next month.

The instrument will be one of the highlight lots at Christie’s upcoming entertainment memorabilia sale on Nov. 29.

Nirvana bassist Krist Novoselic reportedly bought the doomed guitar from a pawn shop days before the promo was filmed. An extra claimed the trashed axe after the shoot.
