DJ Ashba’s recent proposal has sparked an internal police investigation over concerns officers went too far to help the Guns N’ Roses star with his grand romantic gesture.

The rocker proposed to his longterm girlfriend Nathalia Henao after a private ride over Las Vegas in a police helicopter, which ended in a field at the squad’s headquarters, where he got down on one knee amid roses and a bottle of Champagne.

Ashba took to his Twitter page on Saturday to thank the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department (LVMPD) for their help in creating his magical day.

Alongside a snap of the happy couple in the helicopter, he wrote, “That was the most incredible day of our life!! Special thx (thanks) to the Las Vegas Police Dept. (sic) for the most amazing helicopter private tour over Vegas! We landed in a field at Police headquarters were (where) I had a table set up covered in roses n (and) a bottle of the bubble stuff (sic).”

However, officials from the LVMPD are now investigating the incident to determine whether officers violated any regulations by granting the civilian ride-along in a police helicopter.

LVMPD spokesman Bill Cassell says, “An internal affairs investigation has been initiated to determine if any department policies or regulations were violated in granting this ride-along.”
