1941: Duke Ellington recorded “Take The A Train” with his big band. It became the orchestra’s theme song.

1950: Disney released the movie “Cinderella.”

1964: For the first time one act had five songs on Billboard’s Hot 100 list. It was The Beatles, with “I Want To Hold Your Hand,” ”I Saw Her Standing There,” ”She Loves You,” ”Please, Please Me” and “My Bonnie.”

1971: Pink Floyd released their “Dark Side of the Moon” album.

1969: Country singers George Jones and Tammy Wynette were married in Ringgold, Georgia. They had said they were secretly married six months earlier.

1974: Elton John released “Bennie and the Jets.”

1990: Musician Ike Turner was sentenced to four years in prison on cocaine charges. He began serving his sentence the next day. Four years earlier, Turner had said he had been addicted to cocaine for 15 years.

2007: Britney Spears shaved her head after a salon owner refused to do it for her.
