Red Hot Chili Peppers star Chad Smith forced Will Ferrell to concede in a long-awaited “drum-off” on Thursday by outshining the actor with his musical skills but the funnyman was still crowned the champ.

The rocker challenged the “Anchorman” star to a battle in an online video in February after Ferrell made fun of their resemblance during a question-and-answer session on Reddit.com.

The duo came head-to-head on “The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon” on Thursday when they thrilled the audience by wearing identical clothing and impersonating each other during an interview about their “rivalry.”

Ferrell and Smith then climbed behind drum kits and began trading beats and light-hearted insults, but after several exchanges, the funnyman gave up and dropped his drumsticks to the floor.

However, Ferrell was determined not to be totally outdone, so he began playing a cowbell as the rest of the Red Hot Chili Peppers appeared onstage for a performance of Blue Oyster Cult’s “(Don’t Fear) The Reaper.”

The drum-off was staged to raise money for charities Cancer for College and Little Kids Rock.
