Hero of the Week

William Jae, US Navy

William Jae

PS2(SW/AW) Jae is my son and has just returned from a 321 day deployment on-board USS Mesa Verde. They where involved in all the activity happening in the region to include Iraq and Afghanistan. During his day to day routine he takes care of pay and personnel issues for over 500 embarked Marines, 50 embarked personnel from Boat Detachment Unit, and over 300 sailors permanently stationed aboard USS Mesa Verde. He took extra initiative to re-qualify in all his watch standing and re-qualified Enlisted Surface Warfare Specialist.

His dedication to duty earned him the honor of Junior Sailor of the Quarter for the 3rd quarter 2011 and then earned him the title of Junior Sailor of the Year 2011. All of this a remarkable feat and something that is not attained by just any sailor. He has far exceeded everything I have ever done in my 24 years of active service and has EARN my greatest respect and is definitely a HERO in the eyes of Myself, his wife Megan, mother Suzanne, and 2 sisters Heather and Candice.
