Katrina was nominated by her Mother :
Our daughter, Katrina Palmer is our hero because she selflessly gives to her family, her friends and her Country.
Katrina came into my life when she was six years old, when I married her father, Mike. I would never call Katrina my step-daughter, she is my daughter in every way that is important!
Katrina joined the Navy without telling us. She felt the need to serve this beautiful Country of ours and she was so proud to follow in her father’s footsteps! Katrina and her father have always been close, but the military bond they share is amazing. When her first deployment was to the earthquake ravaged, Haiti, we were scared, but she was fearless and so excited to be helping and representing the USA.
To see our beautiful daughter in her uniform makes us so proud and to be able to attend her reenlistment ceremony on her ship was an event to be cherished and remembered forever!
Our six year old is now all grown-up, she is now a women, a sister, a friend and a Sailor, but more importantly, always our daughter.
