By Don Clark and John Roy

Virginia Beach, VA– The largest Disc Golf Clubs in Southeast Virginia, Bayville DGC and Newport News DGC will host the 17th Annual Ice Bowl Disc Golf Tournament on January 25, 2014 at Bayville Disc Golf course, 4132 1st Court Street in Virginia Beach , VA starting at 9:00 AM.

The Tournament Director for this years event, Don Clark, hopes that this tournament will set a record in cash and food donations for Southeast Virginia Food Bank. The two clubs have enjoyed the support and generosity of over a1000 players and sponsors since the first local Ice Bowl in 1997.

The Ice Bowl was established in 1987 in Columbia , Missouri by the editor of Disc Golf World News, Rick Rothstein with the mandate, No Whimps-No Whiners because the event cannot be cancelled due to weather. Who knew back then that the event would grow to over 3100 events worldwide and raised over $ 2.5 Million to date to fight hunger and feed the hungry. Today the mission continues to focus on having fun, raising money for local charities and garnering upbeat publicity that integrates the Disc Golf community with the community at large in positive ways.
